Our Mission
We aim to protect forever a 14-hectare piece of regenerating native forest in the Waingawa River Valley, bordering the Tararua State Forest Park. This land is rich in biodiversity with streams, significant bird life, and seed sources from the surrounding forest. This piece of forest has been under successful pest suppression for more than 20 years.
How We Protect
Protecting the land for generations requires legal ownership, financial clarity, and long-term oversight.
The land is now owned by Climate Trust Aotearoa NZ, a charitable trust governed by New Zealand law and accountable to the State. Ownership ensures long-term protection of the land, water, native plants, and indigenous animals.
The vendor, Waingawa Forest Corporation Ltd, has supported the project by offering interest-free vendor finance, repayable over 20 years, allowing us to secure the land immediately and repay over time.
